The Blog's review of the "British Speeway Track Directory and Guidebook"

The indispensable companion to British Speedway Tracks!

That’s what it says on the cover of Jeff Scott’s latest publication, the “British Speedway Track Directory and Guidebook” ... and it does exactly what it says on the cover.

At 80 pages, it is easily the smallest of Jeff’s many speedway related books, but then size doesn’t count here.  Ideal for a coat pocket, back pack or the glove compartment of a car, this little gem is an essential read for all speedway fans.

Beautifully presented, with a mass of colour photographs, each British track is covered in just the right amount of detail to help the supporter get to the track and to acquaint themselves with the necessary information to make their visit go as smoothly as possible.

Each Elite and Premier League track is afforded a double page colour spread including the address of the stadium and very clear directions for car, rail, bus and even taxi users.  Telephone numbers, “Club Hotline numbers” and the official web address are also made available.  Facilities within the stadia are itemised including disabled access and viewing positions, restaurants and even whether dogs are allowed or not.  Admission prices for all categories of entrance are included together with the price of the programme.  A potted and itemised history of the club is included together with a “My top 10 riders”, lists provided by fans of the track in question. National League and Other tracks receive one or two pages.

But this is more than just a book to help travelling fans find away tracks – it just feels so nice in the hands and is great for casual reading.  It even makes some of the less salubrious stadiums look good!

At just £4.99 it’s a gift for any speedway fan and a fine addition to the speedway library.  Go on ... treat yourself – you won’t be disappointed!

Copies can be purchased from all good track shops and also can be safely ordered by credit card at the new look www.methanolpress.com  Alternatively send a £7.99 cheque to cover P&P made payable to "J.Scott" at Methanol Press, 2 Tidy Street, Brighton BN1 4EL
